Nudity and Sex

It is not a matter of “desexualizing” nudity as it is to discontinue to OVER-sexualize!

Nudity is not supposed to be sexual it is supposed to be NATURAL. If we are nude you do not say we are in our “sexual” state you are in your NATURAL state! You can be sexual totally clothed and conversely you can be non sexual in the buff….

Attraction or sexual thoughts don’t hinge on what a person is or isn’t wearing at all. It is all in the mind which is where sex and lust begin.

Problem is that we have made simple nonsexual nudity so taboo that it has totally brainwashed the majority. The nude form is a work of art and should not be sexualized. As a result it has created shame among the people in our culture. It has created poor self image and worth, due to media giving us a false benchmark that we should look like. It has created sexual deviants and people with poor manners that poke fun of those of us that are less perfect.

So yes we need to stop making the nude body sexual! It is natural and beautiful and should be embraced for its beauty instead of making it fodder for sexual desire.

My Naturist Haven

My Naturist Haven

Around 1996 we moved into our house in the country. It was a mess and needed a lot of work. We didn’t have a lot of money then, but fortunately we had ambition! One thing we really like was the back yard. It was large about two acres, but very overgrown. We had a neighbor only on one side and we could come out the back door and sun bathe nude, but we could never venture more than a couple steps from the back door.
Eventually we made our first big purchase and bought a hot tub. If we were quick and careful we could go out nude, but no problem if it was night time.
As years went by we were not satisfied with that and needed more than these few square feet to be nude in. In addition to that we wanted a pool and did not want to wear a suite. We planted fast growing hedges and built privacy fencing from rough sawn hemlock from a local saw mill. Over the course of a couple years we were able to become perfectly private from the road and our neighbor.
We now have a large deck, hot tub, pool, horse shoe pits, bocci, and volley ball, and we use them all nude. We garden and mow the lawn in the buff. Soon I will be starting to build the petanque court (ever nudist place needs one).
We love our yard it’s our very own naturist park! We love having our nudist friends over and enjoying all it has to offer and some great food!
Take a look at your yard…You might be able to do the same thing with a little creativity!
Good luck and if you need me I’ll be out back.

Hey there! I’m a NUDIST!!

Hey there! I’m a NUDIST!!
When we first ventured out into the nudist world, we were excited and would have loved to tell the world of our love of social nudity. Then reality sets in and all the “what ifs” and the “what would they says” started flashing across our minds. I mean, would people laugh? Think we are weird? Disown us as friends or family? We started to figure we should keep this to ourselves.
As time went by we really started to want people to know. It felt as if we were embarrassed to be nudist. We knew there was nothing wrong with it, so what’s the big deal? So we waited for our first opportunity. Maybe we can even get some of our friends to join us!
I thought about it and figured to just subtly bring it up in conversation. I certainly wasn’t going to just blurt it out! Little steps worked best. I would mention skinny dipping, or lack of tan lines, or something that would involve being nude. Then I would gauge their reaction to see how accepting they might be, before I got down to the nitty gritty.
The results were actually quite surprising. We still have all our friends and family. Our fears never realized. Most everyone was accepting, and some actually interested. I can’t think of anyone saying anything worse than “Well good for you…It’s not for me, but whatever floats your boat” My mother in law was a little concerned, because this involved our children, but she never brings it up any more, so we don’t either.
Now many if not most of our friends know. We do not hide it, and a few have actually caught us nude in the back yard and they were totally cool with it.
So why not tell a few of your friends? You never know they might join you like some of ours did! It feels good to tell people what your passions are…..Hey there! I am a NUDIST!!

Nudity, Shame, and Children

I believe that you are born naturally a person that does not need or want clothes on their body. Children love to run around with out a stitch on and aren’t worried about what people think. Then we grow up!

I believe that shame and poor acceptance of the natural human body is something that is driven into our brains from many different sources. Some of them are placed into our subconscious on purpose and some just by societal opinions of what is right.

The on purpose ones are mainly from the media, film industry and the entertainment world. They use sex to sell, they use the most beautiful women of our population to peddle their wares or get you into the theatre. We are taught at a very young age from what is on T.V. or any magazine you open that this is what a woman is supposed to look like and if you don’t look like or date a woman that looks like that then there must be something wrong with you. So now people think less of themselves because they do not live up to a conceived standard. Young girls grow up thinking they are fat and ugly. Young boys aren’t built like a star basketball player. They never see what is real. Kids don’t even shower in school anymore. Nudism addresses this and in many cases even cures this. My children are living proof.

Some of the subconscious sources start very young and are handed down from the parents. A young child walks into the bedroom and mom is changing. Mom covers her breasts and screams. The child makes a quick exit as requested by mom, and as the child leaves is wondering what can be so bad about breasts that I shouldn’t see them. Breasts must be bad! Child walks into the bathroom as dad is getting out of the shower and he quickly covers his penis. Child thinks hmmm…penis must be bad too? The result is shame! Parents call them “privates” “wee wee” and many others. Kids now think “penis and vagina” are “bad words” never to be spoken out loud. Shame! Add to that what they see and hear in pictures and music or their friends that have been given faulty information give them. This teaches that these “parts” are only to be used in sex or to have inappropriate thoughts about. This teaches disrespect and in some cases rudeness or maybe worse.

Another thought I have is that children are curious. If you treat something (in this case nudity) as something taboo, it becomes a strong curiosity for them. They will find other less healthy ways to satisfy their curiosity. An example of this happened in my home. A friend of my oldest son brought over a magazine he apparently found in his home. It had nude women in it. I watched as they hid in the yard. My son’s friend was getting all excited and making nasty comments. At the same time my son was very uninterested to say the least. He could care less, because he was taught that the body was beautiful and he has seen many of them in real life. Fast forward to the current time; my son is a well rounded young man who treats his girlfriend with the respect she deserves. While the other boy who is not much of my son’s friend anymore due to the way he treats his girlfriend. I am not saying that nudism made all this happen, but it had something to do with it….maybe even a lot to do with it.

I also believe that this shame that many in our society and its views on the nude body is very unhealthy. I also believe that it is causing problems in relationships because a woman doesn’t live up to the standards that a man feels that a woman should be based on what he has been taught, same with a woman to a man in some cases. I also believe that we are creating from an early age sexual predators, and those that will commit some sort of sexual crime. Of course unhealthy views of nudity is not doing it on its own, but when you combine that with some of the music, movies, and video games it makes me think that a healthy and respectful view of the natural human being could defiantly help prevent a number of these cases.

Well that’s my thoughts and opinions…take them for what they are worth and if you have any questions or ideas of your own I would love to hear them.

Favorite Resorts for our Family

I was asked the question “What is your favorite nude resort or campground” My reply was “Oh that would be…..” and then I paused. Hmmmm . And I thought and thought some more. It was then that I realized that I couldn’t pick one and say that it was my favorite. They all had something unique and special about them.

One thing they ALL have in common is the people. Oh they may look different, and they may sound different depending on where you are, but they are the same. The people are the kindest and warmest people on earth. It sort of makes me laugh a little bit, because there is always someone there that reminds me of someone that I met somewhere else.

Up here in New York State we are fortunate to have a lot of locations that we can go, and the only bad thing is that our season is so short. We do have some groups that maintain some winter activities such as swims, bowling, or pot lucks at people’s homes. Once you get to know people in the area there is never a shortage of things to do.

Probably one of my most visited is Juniper Woods in Catskill, NY. It’s a great place where you can fish, swim, or just relax. No frills here just Upstate mountain beauty. The thing I like is how natural it is, and the feeling of being connected to nature. It’s a great feeling!

Heading over to Palmerton, Pa is Sunny Rest Resort. They have a great pool and activities. I like that they have a little night life there, despite the name sounding a little like a retirement home. They have a great outdoor bar and music to enjoy. They have a great staff and fabulous rooms that were spotless upon our arrival.

White Tail Resort is in Ivor Virginia. What is NOT to like about this place. It is a jewel on the East Coast. They have a wonderful restaurant. The food is fabulous. I think I eat better there than anywhere. They have two pools one inside used year round and a HUGE outdoor pool used through the warmer months. The hall is spacious and a great place to gather. You will never have to worry about not having enough to do. By far the thing that struck me was the amount of youths there, which is great for us because the kids have made many friends there.

Avalon is in Paw Paw, West Virginia. What a place! You can enjoy their beautiful pools and restaurant, and in the cooler weather sit by the big stone fireplace, as well as great Condos and rooms for overnight stays. Now here is the unique part. They have a nudcino that’s right a casino on property where you can be a naked gambler and win some cash!

Cedar Creek is in Pelion South Carolina, and they have an absolutely gorgeous piece of property! They have trails for walks and two pools to swim. Personally I loved the creek that runs along the property that has the coolest, cleanest, most refreshing water flowing through it. It is a natural “lazy river” that you can float down on rafts or tubes. At one end there is a dock and a nice large and deep swimming hole. This was the best and we loved it, of course it was the kid’s favorite thing to do.

Solaire in Woodstock Ct. Was our first place we went, and they have a wonderful place as well. Volley ball and tennis are taken very serious here, so be ready for some stiff competition. The pool is great and the hot tub is too, but my favorite place to sun and have a beverage was the perfect sandy beach that ran a good bit of a large pond. Across the pond are these beautiful rock ledges that charged command of your view. You can canoe, or use the paddle boat, the kids on the other hand would rather get a group of kids and float away on a Viking ship (that’s what I said…a Viking ship).

I could go on and on because there are many great things and great places out there full of fabulous people that will be glad to socialize with you! Get out there and pay these places a visit. I hope to hear that you enjoyed it as much as we have!

First Visit

Friends of ours invited us to their favorite somewhat local nude resort, and we accepted. They had two daughters around the same age as our kids. My daughter was excited she was a natural nudist, my oldest son not so much. We planned on staying the weekend and rented a tent site. It was a two hour drive and it was a little scary, because we didn’t know what to expect, even though everyone told us.

As soon as we arrived my heart started beating a little faster I was nervous as anything. My wife was a little concerned about no longer having the youthful body she once did. I guess most people have the same feelings of apprehension. Will I fit in? Am I too fat or flabby? Not muscular or a super model! Will people stare at me? And so on…..

We checked in at the office and received directions to our site. They were very nice and made us feel very welcome…ok I felt a little better…first hurdle cleared! We got to the site and started unloading and a couple minutes later a couple with a dog and a toddler walked by and stopped to say hello as they passed. It didn’t take long to notice they were all three naked. We chatted and they went on their way and I said to myself what am I doing with clothes on. It seemed weird at first, because I have only been nude in my own yard up to that point. It took a second to get nekkid! As I was setting up the tent another person passed by and chatted. He said that a group was getting together for snacks and drinks, and asked us to stop by! This to me was the coolest thing. It seems that out in the “world” nobody takes the time to talk to a person they never met before. My nervousness was pretty much gone by that point and I thought I died and went to heaven.

The rest of the weekend was a blast! We swam, went in the paddle boats, played volley ball and socialized more than I ever have anywhere! They had activities going on all day and lots of things for the kids to do. The people were the nicest people I have ever met. We were even invited back the following weekend where the kids were being bussed to a nearby amusement park with all the kids of the members there. Needless to say we went and met more great people!

If you have never been to a nude resort or campground you really need to try it. You will make the best friends and meet super people! While you are doing that you’ll be having a lot of fun too!

The Beginning of the Journey

I have enjoyed being clothes free as long as I can remember. It just felt good to me, so I would when ever I could. As years went on and I met my wife we would often lay out in the buff in the sun and walk around the house with out clothes. Then the kids came and we pretty much stopped, because that’s what we thought we should do. However, the kids in their younger years hated to wear clothes and we would allow them to run around naked whenever they wanted as long as no one else was around. I remember thinking to myself how awesome it would be to be a kid again and be able to run around naked. I really started to miss the times I spent nude, and became very envious of the kids. My wife felt the same way, but we still were not sure if it was right to be nude around the kids.

Of course it really got me thinking….Why? Why not?

Around then the internet really started to pop, so I did a quick search. WOW!!! To my amazement the world was full of people that liked to not only be nude, but to be nude amongst other people. I would have never guessed that at the time. I started to get excited about all the places and the people that I was finding. Nudists and Naturists, Clubs and Resorts. I had no idea! Not only did a lot of people enjoy being nude but there was even National organizations! I also found that it would not “ruin” our children! In fact, it would actually benefit them. Read my blog “Nudity, Shame, and the children”

After meeting a few people locally and on the internet we decided we were going to go to our first nude resort! We had some places closer but we had heard how nice Solaire in Woodstock Connecticut was, and one of the families we met were going to be there and we knew that other kids were going to be there as well. We were very excited as we drove the two hours to get there and as we got closer the nerves started to get a little stronger. Even though you talk all about it and people tell you what it is like you can’t help but feeling a little anxiety. I imagine it was normal, but quickly faded when we got there.

As we arrived through the gate I remember thinking how perfect the weather was sunny and warm. I couldn’t wait to get undressed and feel the sun on my skin. I looked around and just soaked in the beauty of it all. I have been nude outside before, but it was very limited to my back deck, and there was no one else there. Once the car was parked, it took me about a split second to shed my clothes. My wife just laughed a bit because she knows how I am!

We decided to walk around a bit. Our friends have been there before, so they were our guides. I remember how nice it felt. How connected and grounded I felt. As we walked through the tree lined pathways I never felt so close to nature, the elements were so intense. No matter how good this felt, NOTHING could have prepared me for what was next! The best part of being there was the PEOPLE. Everyone we past looked right in our eyes and gave us a warm and genuine greeting. Thats right people being warm and genuine. THIS was a new experience for us. This was what it was all about, and until you feel it you can not even imagine how wonderful it is. Even my words here do not describe it. Those reading this that have felt it know, but if you haven’t then all I can say to you is GO…Go this weekend and meet the wonderful people that are naturists. Move past your anxiety and I guarantee you will say “Why oh why did I not do this sooner!

So get up, Get out there, and meet the Greatest People on the Planet. You’ll love it! I guarantee!
